Privacy Policy
SaberAlert shows a family where its people are. That means we handle location — the most sensitive thing most people carry. Here is exactly what we collect, and what we never do with it.

Location, and how often we collect it
When you turn on location sharing, the SaberAlert app records your device's precise position — latitude, longitude, and how accurate the reading was — along with the time it was taken. It does this in the background, so your family can see arrivals and departures even when the app is closed.
This builds a continuous history, not an occasional snapshot. We keep that history so the app can show trips, places, and arrival times, and we keep it until you delete it or delete your account.
Sharing is opt-in. You can stop it at any time in the app, or by withdrawing the permission in iOS Settings. Stopping ends new readings; deleting your account removes the history.
Who can see it
Only members of your family group, and only at the visibility you choose. We do not sell location data, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use it to build advertising profiles.
What else the app collects
Account
Your email address, the name you choose to display, your time zone, and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store the password itself.
Motion
Your device tells us whether you are walking or driving. We use it to tell a real arrival from a passing car, so notifications stay accurate instead of constant.
Home address
If you set up a household or a sensor, we store the address and where the sensors sit, so the app knows what home means.
Notification tokens
A token from Apple that lets us deliver alerts to your device. It identifies the device, not you.
What you do with alerts
When you acknowledge, trust, ignore, or dismiss an alert, we record it along with who acted and when. That is how the system learns what is normal for your household, and it is the record of who made a decision.
Sensors, and devices that are not yours
SaberAlert sensors listen for the wireless signals that phones, watches, and similar devices broadcast openly. That is how the system notices a device near your home that has never been there before.
That includes devices belonging to people simply passing by — a neighbour, a delivery driver, someone walking down the street. We would rather say so plainly than leave it buried.
What gets recorded is a hardware address the device broadcasts publicly, plus when and where a sensor heard it. We do not attach a name, a person, or an account to it, and we do not try to work out who owns a passing device. Most modern phones deliberately rotate these addresses, which limits how long any single one means anything.
We do not claim this data is anonymous. An address tied to a place and a time can be personal data under laws such as the GDPR, and we treat it that way.
Children
Families use SaberAlert to see where their children are, so children's information gets specific care.
We ask for a date of birth when an account is created and when a family member is invited. We use it for one purpose: working out which protections apply, under laws such as the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the UK and EU rules for children.
For a child under 13, a parent or guardian must verify their consent before we collect that child's location. Ticking a box is not sufficient for this, and we do not treat it as sufficient.
A parent or guardian can review what we hold about their child, ask us to delete it, and withdraw consent at any time, which stops further collection. Write to the address below.
Everyone tracked is someone who agreed to be
A family member's location appears in SaberAlert only after that person installs the app, signs in, and grants location permission on their own device — or, for a child under 13, after a parent or guardian has verified consent.
You cannot add someone to a family and watch them without their participation. SaberAlert is not built to monitor an adult who has not agreed to it, and using it that way breaks our Terms of Service.
What we do not do
- •We do not sell your personal information.
- •We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
- •The app contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or attribution software. Diagnostic data goes only to systems we run ourselves.
- •We do not track you across other companies' apps and websites.
- •We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera.
Taking your data with you, or deleting it
You can delete your account from inside the app. Deleting your account deletes your location history with it.
You can also export a copy of your own data from the app, so leaving does not mean losing what you built.
If you would rather we did it for you, write to us and we will action it.
Who else touches your data
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information.
We use a small number of infrastructure providers to store data and deliver notifications on our behalf. They act on our instructions, are bound to protect your data to at least the standard described here, and may not use it for their own purposes.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect someone's safety.
